OBJECTIVE > GOALS
You’re an exciting, new brand in the hugely competitive Trinidad & Tobago Carnival scene. You’ve just had a first year launch to rival any new band, and now like a recording artiste who has delivered a hit first album, the pressure’s on to deliver an even bigger and better experience for current and prospective customers.
The goal? To create a different kind of Facebook page experience that would use all the capabilities of the Facebook platform for interactivity, and demonstrate the progressive ethos that is the very essence of the YUMA brand. YUMA as always wanted to do something truly original, and use the Facebook platform in a way that most Caribbean brands on Facebook barely scratch the surface of!.
APPROACH & EXECUTION
The theme of the band for 2012 was Press Play, with each of the individual costume sections being named after popular video games. We did some brainstorming, then the idea hit.
Let’s bring to life the modern living room of a true gamer. We needed eye-catching design, powerful colours, and super interactivity. Facebook had recently enabled the ability to create miniature websites in Facebook, including flash and we jumped on the opportunity.
The Facebook landing page we created mixed form with function. You could use your interactive virtual controller to check out the new costumes, sign up for future communications and more.
There were also a few interactive “goodies”, including pictures that moved, and our favourite, a beautiful dancing masquerader if you entered your own personal “cheat code”, by pressing the Y button 3 times. Check it out here.
So let’s see, the goal was push the envelope, engage, and get people hyped… Our cocktail included video, audio, graphic design and custom web development. We think that cocktail tasted pretty good, but don’t take our word for it, check out some of the things people said in the comments section.
Our personal favourite. Any time someone uses 35 a’s in real (yes we counted) it’s either really bad, or in this case, really good!!!!! (we’ll just stick to 5).
